VIT 142C - Fabric Pneumatic Bursting Tester

Application
Pneumatic Bursting Tester, to determine the bursting pressure of fabrics using pneumatic test method, including knits, woven fabric, non-woven fabric, laminated fabric and other craft-made fabric
A test specimen is clamped over an expansive diaphragm by a circular clamping ring; increasing compressed air pressure is applied to the underside of the diaphragm, causing distension of the fabric until the test specimen bursts; the bursting strength and distension are determined.
Real time testing-curve is shown on the Bursting software. The machine can also be controlled easily by the graphics touch-screen without computer.

Why Do We Need to Test the Bursting Strength of the Fabric?

When the fabric is worn, it is often subjected to the concentrated load acting perpendicular on the fabric plane (such as knees, elbows, uppers, gloves, socks, etc.), and it bulges and expands until it is damaged, for example, parachute and filter bag have similar force and damage. This phenomenon is called top break or burst. The ability of the fabric to resist bursting is called resistance to burst strength.

Some knitted fabrics, such as weft-knitted fabrics, which have featured by longitudinal extension and transverse shrinkage and they have a strong effect on each other. If a tensile test is applied to measuring fabric strength, the test must be made in radical, weft and diagonal directions. The test of bursting strength is a comprehensive evaluation of fabric strength, only one test, which can provide information on multiple stretch features of the fabrics.

What is the Fabric Pneumatic Bursting Tester?

The bursting strength tester is suitable for measuring the bursting strength and blasting expansion of textiles. It is used for testing the bursting strength of all kinds of materials with impervious properties such as knitted fabric, non-woven fabric, leather, geosynthetics and so on.

The pneumatic bursting tester uses the computer to automatically control over the bursting return instead of manual control by the mechanical drive to avoid accidental damage to the rubber diaphragm. Automatic data storage, processing, display, and printing, bursting distension measurement by the direct method instead of by the traditional expansion method. By these improvements, the instrument test accuracy and its data reliability are raised.

Test Program

1 Connect the instrument to mains. Press the power switch and show the interface of the instrument.

2 Open the pump, adjust the pressure regulating valve, so that the pressure on the pressure gauge to a reasonable scope. The pressure adjustment is to ensure that the polymethyl methacrylate cover presses against the sample so that the pressure is sufficient and the fabrics wouldn’t move during the testing process.

3 Remove the polymethyl methacrylate cover first, and then insert the rubber ring into the hole, Next put it on the steel rim of the vent hole.

Note: Steel rim shall vary according to the different sizes of the vent hole, which you shall check before installation. At the same time it needs to be screwed airtight, otherwise, gas leakage may occur and it will be unable to carry out a test.

4 Place the membrane neatly on the lower platen, and at last install the glass cover. Please note that do not fold the membrane during the operating process.

5 Install the specimen according to the relevant standards. Click on the DESCEND key on the touch screen until the polymethyl methacrylate cover descends automatically and presses against the specimens, and meantime the lower contact of the displacement sensor in polymethyl methacrylate cover shall be on the upper surface of the specimen. The test completed and the instrument will be automatically stored display test data.
